Exchange with Cotter High School
Our long-awaited exchange with Cotter High School finally took place at the end of August!
The Cotter community welcomed us with such warmth, making our students feel right at home. Our time there was beautifully bookended by a few unforgettable days in Chicago and New York — a journey filled with lasting memories and indelible impressions.
- Chicago (shikaakwa = Big Onion). Kicking off our cultural exchange with a multicultural lunch.
- History, but make it sporty. A guided kayak tour on the Chicago River.
- Meeting the host families in Winona, Minnesota. Midwestern hospitality is no joke!
- Field trip to Winona State University. Soil to stream, roots to river – our students dive into the science of the mighty Mississippi.
- Let’s go, Ramblers, let’s go! Cotter’s football team sent their opponents packing 47 – 8.
- Minnesota State Fair, a mix of Schueberfouer and Foire Agricole. It gets a whopping 200,000 visitors per day!
- From Luxembourg to Minnesota, the Marnach House stands as a treasured reminder of heritage, carefully looked after through the years.
- So many stories, so little time. Nancy and Jeremy answer our students’ questions.
- The Church of the Holy Trinity in Rollingstone. Masses here were held in Lëtzebuergesch and Latin until well into the 1920s.
- Thursday mass at St. Mary’s church with the Cotter community.
- &
- Some 70,000 Luxembourgers crossed the Atlantic to Ellis Island and then onwards to ‘The Land of the Free’.
- Our last night in Times Square — closing out an unforgettable journey, hearts full of gratitude for the experiences we’ve shared and the wonderful people we’ve met along the way.
ONCE A RAMBLER, ALWAYS A RAMBLER! @cotterschools
